Cosmetology

Are you ambitious, good with people, and would like to be a hairstylist, manicurist, barber, skin care or make-up artist? Then this program is for you! Learn to work in areas that include: hair cutting, perm design, sterilization and sanitation, cell biology, professional image and good business practice. This program will help prepare students for further education to complete the state required 1500 hours to become licensed. If you have a desire to be a success in this industry, sign up for this exciting program. Cosmetology is an awesome career with many opportunities.

Cosmetology I/II (Course# 70861) – Morning Option
This class meets on A and B (green and gold) days in the morning from 8:50 to 11:15. Students earn 2 elective credits and ½ Science credit upon completion of this class. Both first and second year students are welcome in this morning class.

Cosmetology I/II- (Course# 70861) – Afternoon Option
This class meets each afternoon from 11:50 to 2:05. Students earn 3 elective credits and ½ Science credit upon completion of this class. Both first and second year students are welcome in this afternoon class.

Prerequisite for the First Year Student: Junior level standing; "C" average or better in 422 Biology with passing score on the TABE; or "C" average or better in 424 Biology or higher level. 

Prerequisite for the Second Year Student: This class is open to all 12th graders who have earned a "C" or better in Cosmetology 1.

One Period Class

Spa Magic – This class is open to all 9th through 12th graders who have earned a C or better in Biology. Learn the business side of operating a spa and discover the science behind aromatherapy, facials, hand and foot massage, manicures, pedicures, waxing, and make-up. (½ credit—1 semester course)
