Culinary Arts
Culinary Arts offers you the opportunity to study and work in all areas of restaurant operation and management. In this course students will pursue knowledge in workplace readiness and general studies of industry practice, operate the Hideaway Restaurant, as well as learn the essentials of computer use in the hospitality industry. Culinary Arts will help you develop the inter-personal skills in human relations and communications that will enable you to be successful in this field. A special highlight of this program is the opportunity to plan and participate in travel experiences. In Culinary Arts, students will have the opportunity to earn industry certification from the National Restaurant Association through ProStart Management Program. In addition, students may earn national certification in ServSafe, a food service safety and sanitation training program.
Culinary Arts I/II (Course# 70881) – Morning Option
This class meets on A and B (green and gold) days in the morning from 8:50 to 11:15. Students earn 2 elective credits and ½ Math credit upon completion of this class. Both first and second year students are welcome in this morning class.
Culinary Arts I/II- (Course# 70881) – Afternoon Option
This class meets each afternoon from 11:50 to 2:05. Students earn 3 elective credits and ½ Math credit upon completion of this class. Both first and second year students are welcome in this afternoon class.
Prerequisite for the First Year Student: This class is open to all 10th, 11th and 12th graders who have earned a "C" or better in College Preparatory Freshman level English or higher level.
Prerequisite for the Second Year Student: This class is open to all 11th and 12th graders who have earned a "C" or better in Culinary Arts 1.

One Period Class
Culinary Cook-off—This class is open to all 9th through 12th graders who have earned a "C" or better in Freshman English or are enrolled in Freshman English. Learn the basics of food and kitchen safety. You will learn how to use kitchen equipment and prepare a number of basic recipes. The semester will culminate in a culinary cook-off that will show off your newly learned talents.
