Admission Information

In the first year of the program, priority placement will be given to juniors first, sophomores second, and seniors third. If a program fills, students will be placed on a waiting list and will be accepted on a space available basis prior to the start of the academic school year.

In two-period programs that offer a one-period option, one-period students will be accepted on a space available basis. Priority will be given to two-period students.

Students must be 16 years old upon admission or have an 11th grade standing. A student who is in the 10th grade may request admission into the Technical Center if they meet the admission criteria and it is determined that the student has the maturity to successfully participate in the Tech Center program.

Students with special needs, including students on Individualized Education Plans and students on 504 plans, are encouraged to apply to the Tech Center. For Enrollment Protocol and information about supports available at the Tech Center, please contact the Academic Skills Support teacher at 527-6515.

Once a student on an IEP or 504 Plan has been accepted at the Tech Center, an IEP meeting must be held to determine the appropriateness of the technical program placement. If placement is appropriate, accommodations necessary for success in that program will then be determined. The meeting must be held before the student begins classes at the Tech Center. Participants in the meeting will include the sending school special educator, Tech Center special needs teacher, parent/guardian, student, program instructor and others (as deemed necessary by the special educator and the Tech Center special needs teacher). If a student, parent/guardian, or sending school prefers, this meeting may be held before a student applies to the Tech Center to discuss the range of programs and services the Tech Center can provide. To request such a meeting, please contact the Academic Skills Support eacher at 527-6515.
